I HEART YA #4: Spotlight on 2011 Debut Authors


Welcome to the 4th weekly I HEART YA Blog Carnival! I HEART YA is a Blog Carnival for readers, writers, and lovers of young adult fiction. Before 2012 gets away from us (is it February already?) I want to do a spotlight on 2011 faves, specifically 2011 debut authors. There are plenty of them, and my hat goes off to them all. Yet, while I don't want to name any names, it's possible that sometimes an author is so relieved and excited to have finally completed their work that they just want to get it out there--even though it's possible that the work could still use a little fine tuning. Just saying it could happen that way. At least that's what I hear from some of my friends.


Which means that I get extra happy when an author has taken the time to do a really good job. Which is why I like the idea of promoting those authors that have paid their dues and learned the art of writing and put out great stuff. 


So after careful consideration I decided to give a shout out to my friend C.K. Bryant, author of Bound. 




Christine has seriously paid her dues when it comes to writing. She even had a contract under her belt. But when things fell through she decided to go indie. And her debut novel Bound is wonderful--pulls you in right from the start with a unique story line, great writing, and even great editing. Definitely one of my top picks for 2011.

  1. I haven't read a single debut released in 2011. In fact, I read 1 book released in 2011, it wasn't a debut, and it still wasn't all that great. I've also ranted about it way too much already. Other options?

      There are several on my to-read list that I've heard great things about - Carrier of the Mark, Unearthly, Shatter Me - how about picking one of those and telling us why you're drooling over it! (or mildly interested.) =)

  3. YAY for the well-written, well-edited books! I wish I could recommend a 2011 debut, but I've already waded through some authors who jumped the gun and published before the fine-tuning that may have kept their book from dwindling in published obscurity. Makes me so sad every time!

    I'm excited to read Bound! Thanks for the tip! A good indie-published book makes the world a better place. Well, MY world, at least.

  7. HOLY COW!!! I've been off the grid for a few days and just saw your post on my Facebook page. Had to come see what you were up to and imagine my surprise when I saw the cover of BOUND along with all your kind words. I'm all giddy inside. Speechless, really. And that's just not me. Thanks so much for the shout out and for LOVING my book as much as I do.
